There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many borders.

The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling den, highlights 150 slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel building that features many luxuries in addition to the gambling den, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 gaming tables.
